This policy explains what personal data BESTimate collects, why, and your choices. It follows India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the IT Act, 2000. The data fiduciary is BESTimate.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and an encrypted password (we cannot read it).
- Profile details you give us: name, firm or organisation, and mobile number, used for your plan and receipts.
- Your work: estimates, measurements, saved items, packages and the logo you upload, so they are saved in your account.
- Plan and payment records: plan, dates, amounts and Razorpay payment / order / subscription IDs. Card, UPI and bank details are handled only by Razorpay and never reach us.
- Computer details: a random ID created by the app on each computer, the computer’s name and when it was last used — to apply the 2-computer limit.
We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell or rent your data.
Why we use it
- To run your account, save your work and make your Excel estimates.
- To take payments, switch plans on, send account emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset) and give receipts.
- To prevent misuse, such as account sharing or repeated free trials.
- To answer your support requests.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase — our database, sign-in and server (servers in Tokyo, Japan; data encrypted in transit and at rest).
- Razorpay — payments (India).
- Vercel and GitHub — host our website and the app downloads; they do not receive your estimates.
- Hostinger — sends our account emails.
Each is bound to protect the data and use it only to provide its service to us. We may disclose data if required by Indian law.
How long we keep it
Account data and your work are kept while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your estimates, library and profile within 30 days. Payment records are kept for 8 years because Indian tax and accounting law requires it.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent (which closes the account), by writing to us. You can also nominate someone to act for you. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Each account can only read its own data — this is enforced on the server, not only in the app. Excel files are made on our server after checking the plan. Passwords are never stored in readable form. No method is perfect, so please use a strong password and keep it private.
On your computer
The app keeps your sign-in and a working copy of your current estimate on the computer so it opens quickly. Signing out removes your estimates, library and logo from that computer.
